Ye old kiln unloading. Our first specific low fire firing. It was a 5 hour cone 05 firing specifically for our majolica and Beth's work. Beth had a bunch of really nice work come out but I'm focusing on what I'm emotionally invested in....the majolica work. Some hits some misses.....thats the verdict. We are in the process of building up our inventory for the next season, so as many good pieces as we can get the better.
These are both pasta bowls. Completely different from each other but both strikingly beautiful. I keep looking at the work from a makers point of view...I make four plates that go together. But what I find is that the painter...Stephen see's them as individual pieces, not sets. But really what do I know. I need to learn to let go and let be what be. As I already said, they are beautiful.
Here are a few small bowls that I like very much!
Okay moving on. I have been working on some tiles from the mold I made last week.
looking good. I'll run a bisque on Sarurday so I can run some test glazing next week.
Lastly, I worked on moterizing the new wheel downstairs. As you can see I had to drill whole in the frame to hold the motor.
Once I mounted the motor I saw that the wiring was old and frayed. I had an available piece of hardware that had died and used its plug as a replement.
New plug worked well but still tring to figure out how to make the mounting braket mesh with a foot pedal to apply speed when I need it. Right now I have a wire attached to it to pull it into the wheel when I need speed...but it would be nice if my foot could do it as my hands are already busy with the clay.
That's all I have to share for today. More tomorrow and a Raku firing coming this weekend!
