Clean and move day

Clean and move day. The wind had calmed down substantially today. So I was able to move an old Brent kickwheel to the home studio. My friend Stephen came over to help me, which was nice cause the thing weighs a frickin ton!

Here it is in its new home. I used to have an electric Brent and an old Lockerbie kick in this space. It's nice only having one wheel here. I have a motor for the wheel and will look into getting a mount for it. Bearings sound good on the wheel.

Here was the wheel surrounded by keeerapola in the barn next to the new studio. It was replaced by a Shimpo electric wheel. The studio has two Brent electrics, two Shimpo electrics, an unknown electric assist kick and my old Lockerbie kick. Having a kick wheel is nice for showing the relationship between speed and what you can do with clay. I use it all the time for demos. When i was in school my teacher made me spend two semesters on one.

Loaded on the truck ready to move.

Here are some low fire pieces I'm working on. I'll fire it to cone 05 and put on a clear glaze. The base clay is a terra cotta with a porcelain slip over the top. The blotches are a cobalt slip and the line work is maycco majolica black.
