Here is another example of the direction I am heading for the year. The plate will be white and the flower is two shades of blue. The line work is a simple iron based engobe as are the flower petals. I will put a clear glaze and fire to stoneware temps.
This is or will be a five gallon fermenting crock. I had to make a wood form and slab roll about 35 lbs. of clay to get it to cover the whole form. I than set it onto a thrown round slab and pulled out the form. After it dries for a spell I than threw the piece to seem it together and add throwing marks. I treated it the same way as the plates using porcelain slip and engobe decoration. It will get a clear glaze and be fired to stoneware temps. The crock also has a big follower so the cabbage can stay under the liquid.
Lastly are these two flour canisters. They are about 10 inches wide and 8 inches tall. I am ordering some food grade rubber so I can cut rings to keep the food sealed. I would just order the rings but they stop making them at 6 inches.......bummer.
I currently working on some jugs for brewing beer and wine. I will post some pictures of them soon. Cheers!
