Testing a new app

It's a blustery day and I'm not into going to the studio. It's Sunday after all. So instead I'm trying out a new app for blog posting. Blogsy. Seems easy enough so far. I'll give it time before the final verdict.

Going through some old photos on flicker I found a file of soda fired cups. This was my first or second attempt at firing this kiln. Not much of a kiln....a recycled oval electric kiln set up as an updraft. Basically a hole in the lid for all you non potters, very ineffecient with hot and cold spots. But it did get to cone 10 in about 9 hours and did a fair job of delivering the soda.

Small whiskey cup

I also found some photos from an old wood firing. Below is a very nice milk jug. The tenmoku liner glaze burned out a little and was replaced by alder deposits. I love how it crystallizes!

Here is another example from the same firing. W use an anagama style kiln and use Douglas fir to get to temp. Than we alternate Alder and Doug fir. The firing is usually about 40 hrs.. Our next firing is in April and I will detail the whole process then.

These cups got blasted!

Well that's it for now.....let's see how this app does.
