A bit of absurdity

Its been a while since my last post. Not that I have not thought about taking the time to write something. Now that the annual wood fire kiln is getting geared up I figured it would be a good time to document the goings on of a wood fire. So to warm up here is some the current clay work coming out of the studio.

These are finished stoneware cups. As before they are thrown with a red clay and then dipped into porcelain. I then am dabbing some engobes onto them and scratching out a bit of absurdity. The drawings are all plant or animal and an occasional creature of unrecognizable origin. Sme times the veggies or animals are real and sometimes just loosely inspired by reality.

I'm also doing some hand building of cups with feet. Here are some large cups.....

And here are some small ones. These of course are still unfired ad so lack the color the final images will have but you get the picture.

One one last image. Glazing party for the wood kiln is coming up next Saturday so I will post some pics then. Good day.
